Crack Bread and Christmas Coffee Giveaway

(Subtitle: The post where I talk about a really unhealthy desert and then randomly segue into giving away pounds of coffee)

I realized I should stop calling my blog a quase food blog and just call it a running, life, and baking blog. Because pretty much all of my recipes are desserts. And that’s how it should be.

Yesterday I posted about Funfetti Cake Cookies and today I’m still on a Pillsbury kick apparently. Normally I go for unprocessed everything but I figured I’d knock these two out of the park together.

The following recipe is very near and dear to me and came via my beautiful friend Tiffany. It has four ingredients, is awesome to bring to parties, and as Tiffany warned, it may cause “excessive subconscious eating.” You’ve been warned.

Crack Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 tube Pillsbury biscuits (the original—not the flaky layers or super butter tasting kinds)

IMG_0569

To make:

Melt the brown sugar, ice cream, and butter in a saucepan until it becomes uniform in color and consistency.

IMG_0570

Pour into a baking dish (disposable ones work great if you’re bringing it to a party, like I have been)

Put the biscuits into the caramel mixture, cut into little triangles.

IMG_0573

Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown (12-15 minutes).

Enjoy. Preferably hot and with ice cream.

Obviously NOTHING about this is healthy but it takes minutes to make and is a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Try it one day when you’re feeling lazy and thank me later. It seriously melts in your mouth. #twss

In other news… I have a bunch of coffee to give away. Godiva sponsored the Foodbuzz Festival so for a few weeks I’ve had a bunch of coffee sitting around my apartment, but I just don’t drink it. I like the ritual of coffee, but I’d rather have hot chocolate (way better for you, I may add… not) and coffee just isn’t a part of my life because caffeine does not affect me in any tangible way, so I usually just drink tea instead.

However, I know there are a lot of coffee lovers out there so for Christmas, I am giving away the following Godiva products:

  • 12 oz Chocolate Truffle ground coffee
  • 12 oz Hazelnut Crème ground coffee
  • Small bags of French Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice, and Peppermint Mocha coffees
  • Godiva chocolates
  • Godiva apron (I have one of these and use it all the time!

To enter, simply leave a comment on this post. Tell me how you can’t function without coffee, or how you like the taste, or an inane utterance that has absolutely nothing to do with the task at hand. Whatever, just leave a comment.

If you tweet a link to the coffee giveaway and tag me (@CourtPancakes) it’s an extra entry—just leave another comment and tell me you tweeted.

I’ll leave the Christmas giveaway open til Christmas and then pick a winner via Random.org.

Thank you in advance for getting these pounds of coffee off my hands. ;) It’s almost Christmas! WOO HOO!

    9. Wow – that crack bread looks insanely delicious.

I want to enter the giveaway because I love Godiva. Eating a cup-worth of Godiva in the morning wouldn’t set me up for a very productive day. Godiva coffee, however, sounds like a functional alternative.

    12. I am making the Crack Bread at the earliest opportunity!! I love coffee, have never tried Godiva, it sounds awesome!

    13. I walked into my favorite local SBUX at age 16 and asked for a job. I was looked at with skepticism until I demonstrated my knowledge of each recipe by heart! They were stunned and I was hired to my great joy! I learned to use the real, hand press espresso machines (all replaced by automatic nowadays) and spent 5 wonderful years through high school and college working at the busiest Starbucks in NYC and Long Island. I am basically immune to caffeine and drink a four espresso shot Americano most mornings. I’ll drink decaf and caf coffee, just because I love the taste! Chocolate covered espresso beans are a favorite snack and I love learning about different regional coffees and their production! I became addicted at a young age when my mom would take me to SBUX after physical therapy (soccer = knee surgeries) to bond! We typically located my weekend soccer tournys by their proximity to a coffee shop!

    14. I am a coffee lover!! Drink it every morning and have never tried this brand of coffee before!

    15. I LOVE coffee…it’s truly the way to my heart….EXCITED about this giveaway!

    17. I love coffee for its health benefits…it can lower depression risk, can enhance a workout, it can prevent Alzheimer’s Disease, and can lower the risk of skin cancer! Something to think about as you’re sipping your morning cup o’joe. :)

    19. Um…how is hot chocolate way better for you?
Not that I mind the chocolatty goodness of it, and I prefer HC in the evenings by a warm fire, but joe is still my morning till 3pm companion. It just tastes delicious!

      • Hot chocolate is infinitely worse for you. Hence the “not” at the end. :) But what can I say, I love a cup of milk and sugar and cocoa powder more than anything!

      • PS I miss you!!!

      • We also had a phone call from this company (Paul Davenport) in October, sntitag they had sold our timeshare ( as we had been on line looking to sell), and needed a security of a31800 to be taken from our credit card, and upon completion ( when the deeds were collected from us) it would be refunded, they sent us a contract to sign for the sale. As we did not hear from them we contacted them in December to find out when the deal would be closed. Surprise surprise they advised us that the purchaser had pulled out, and a company under their umbrella would be contacting us today re this sale. To sum up we have a amount outstanding of a31800 which they will now hold until our timeshare is sold, which could be anything from 1 month to 12 months. Any advice please.

      • Hi, I noticed in the cold clraels list for September, a company called Madrigal but no information relating to it. Has anyone else been contacted by them? We have had a series of phone calls telling us that we are guaranteed our money back as reclaim have gone into liquidation! Just when you thought you had heard it all, now, apparantly we should have an NIF number which will allow us to be paid out! This information is supposed to be contained in the terms and conditions on the reverse of the voucher. Can’t understand this as the same terms and conditions state that any disputes will be governed by gibralter law.Anyone else been called by them and if so what happened?ThanksMaggie

    41. I personally cannot stand coffee. My fiance, however, LOVES it. He makes 6-8 cups every morning for himself, and that will only get him through the morning at home and the drive to work. He will then drink a cup or two during the day, and then come home and have another cup or two before bed. Amazing it doesn’t make him jittery or anything! I would love to win this – with the amount of coffee he drinks, you can imagine how much we go through!
