I’m cutting the crap this month.
I’m cutting the crap out of my diet. I am going to, under any possible circumstances, avoid the vicious C-words at my office. Candy, Cereal, Crackers, Cookies, Chips… Coke (the diet version)… only bad things happen, and there have to be better ways to make it through the 3PM doldrums that don’t leave me angry at myself. Less this:
More this:
I’m cutting the crap off of my body. My figure is fine and I love my curves, but I’ve been a little curvier than lately the last few months… and spending so much time agonizing over it but nothing changes. NO MORE. I’m making a noticeable difference in how I look and feel. And I’m sick of not wearing my sexy jeans.
I’m cutting the crap with my workout excuses. I didn’t run today because I was too tired to get up and when I got home it was dark. WHO CARES. PEOPLE RUN IN THE DARK ALL THE TIME. Replace your head lamp batteries and get the hell used to it! And if my friends can run 7-minute miles with a baby stroller, I can run 9-minute miles with a water bottle. Getting out the door is the hardest part…
I’m cutting the crap with my finances. I don’t know where my money goes but it disappears on seemingly frivolous things. I need to save up to be able to take the trip I want to.
I’m cutting the crap with my dating life. My romantic life is occasionally boring, but somehow always interesting. I have a lot of great stories to show for it though. So one of my other goals is to not take any more shit. HEAR THAT, guys who saw profiles I created online but then never actually paid to use who somehow stalked me on google? I am not taking any crap. ; )
I’m refusing to spend time with people who bring me down and invest in my friendships with people who make me smile bigger, run faster, or think deeper.
I’m cutting the crap in every way I can. I want to get back to basics and refocus as we finish out 2011. Absolutely insane.
Here’s to a happier, healthier and simpler November.
Courtney

What a great post! I fully support you on this!
You’re going to do great!
PS- Making your own trailmix for the 3pm munchies helps! You get your chocolate chips in but also almonds, walnuts, dried fruit etc to fill you up and give you energy!

Hear, hear! (Although, can I be honest about how delicious that cupcake in the top picture looks?) November for me = training smart for my last race of the year, and that means cleaning up my eating, getting out of bed even when I don’t want to, and running hard when hard is what I need. Watch out, November, cause it sounds like some motivated folks are coming to take you by storm.
I like it Courtney! Sounds like your head is in the right place! Good luck with all your crap cutting!

Good for you!! Make it happen!! (Offices are absolutely the worst for things you wish you hadn’t eaten…That was one of my favorite things about becoming a contractor.

You go girl! Love this post. Very inspiring. I’m gonna try to clean up my diet this month too and increase my exercise. Cheer to a no nonsense November!
My goals should mirror yours almost to a “t”. Drop the dead weight in all facets of my life. I just have never had the courage to do it. It means going into unchartered territory, perhaps being lonely for awhile, not doing what my brain wants (like eating the pint of Ben & Jerry’s at night). Let me know if you ever need a night-time in the dark running buddy!
Yay for No Nonsense November. I find getting out the door the absolute hardest thing too. I’ve been doing it pretty well lately but even this morning I’m creating things to do in order to postpone walking into the cold! Good luck with NNN –

Best. Post. Ever. Courtney! Now, if you can just live by those wise words, you’re well on your way to having life mostly figured out. God knows I’m still a journeyman. All the best, love.
Great post! I’m not sure if you meant this to be funny or not, but I was laughing to myself reading a lot of this, haha
My favorite line – “And if my friends can run 7-minute miles with a baby stroller, I can run 9-minute miles with a water bottle.” lol – but this probably means that your friends are insanely fast! I was reading that Team Hoyt ran like 2:45 marathons at their peak, insane!
And that first picture looks awesome – I haven’t had teddy grahams in like 10 years!
Good luck with November!

Love the post! It’s easy to get sucked in to cycles and it takes effort to get out of it. Good for you!
I’d love to take a bite of the cupcake though. It looks like it’s all frosting! Yum!
My goal for November is to only indulge periodically and not get wrapped up in the holiday eating. It’s easy to gain weight, but hard to lose it.

I love the empowerment and decisiveness of this post! Good for you – I think you’ll find it very “freeing!”
Good for you, cutting out the crap is the way to go!
Girl, its totally natural to slip away from ones typical, fairly healthy diet. Its part of life – if you didnt, you wouldnt be human! That said, cutting the crap out for a while will make you feel so much better, and get you back into the swing of things!
Btw, just found your blog a few days ago – L o v i n g it so far.

Love it! Take November head on
I am slowly working on the diet part since I eat too much sugar and it makes me tired, but I can’t seem to cut it out completely. Baby steps, I guess!

Okay, Courtney. I’m with you. Not running in the dark part but the other parts, definitely. Life feels out-of-whack – maybe it’s the light thing? (Days are shrinking) Love you

There’s a saying my yoga instructor says at the end of class that the hardest part of yoga is getting there.
I think that can apply to any exercising and I like to congratulate myself after class no matter how I did by knowing that at least I went! You can say tell yourself the same thing about getting out running.
I’m also cutting the crap this month with my sweets intake!
